St Sebastian Church, built in 1512, is an iconic place for artist and landscape photographers in every season, and probably adorns more Christmas cards than any other motif in the world. US President Eisenhower painted the church from a color photo which is consider one of his most wonderful works. Joseph Mohr came to St Sebastian in 1815 as a substitute parish priest for several weeks. A year after Mohr left Ramsau, he wrote the words to the famous Christmas carol Silent Night.
